The school holidays come with a break from the chaos of school routine and more time to spend with your kids. However, it can be difficult for parents. As school holiday excitement sets in, kids are ready to enjoy their holidays to the greatest extent. Here are our top tips for surviving the school holidays and boredom buster ideas for fun activities that will help the school holidays run smoothly (even if you are a little worn out by the end of it!)

TOP TIPS FOR SURVIVING THE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

1. Plan

Get the kids involved by making a plan of activities for the holidays. Be sure to schedule in some down time and plan for good and bad weather!

2. The best things in life are free

There is no need to spend a fortune to entertain the kids during the holidays. Picnics, bike rides, a trip to the beach and park are all great boredom busters sure to keep your kids occupied.

3. Boredom is good

Unstructured time and time away from electronic devices is good for young minds. Boredom can foster creative and imaginative ideas, as well as improving problem solving skills.

4. Ask for help

Do not hesitate to reach out to others for help during this period. School holidays are hard and asking friends or family to help care for the children is not a weakness!

5. Find a balance

The school holidays do not always have to be chaotic. Don’t cram too much in. Not everyday has to involve a new activity, plan in time for rest. Prioritise your own happiness alongside your kids.
